International Airshow) Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has signed a five-year
support agreement with the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) to cover accessories
for Rolls-Royce Gnome turboshaft engines. The Gnome powers the Sea King
helicopters in service with the Royal Air Force and Navy.
The innovative service contract covers engine fuel accessories, actuators
and starter motors, as well as technical support for these products. Under
the agreement, the MOD sends its equipment to any of three Goodrich facilities
in the UK and pays a monthly service fee for guaranteed return of serviceable
units back into the fleet. Benefits to the MOD include an improved robust
supply chain for long term support, better budgetary control and planning,
lower administration costs and improved delivery times. The agreement was
custom-tailored in partnership with the MOD to support the wide range of roles
that the Sea King performs in operations both in the UK and on overseas
deployments.
