Goodrich Alabama Service Center Receives Boeing Approval to Provide Additional Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Service
  • Approval covers Next-Generation 737 aircraft inspections and modifications
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 16, 2009, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) Alabama Service Center has received approval from The Boeing Company to provide overheat service bulletin inspections and modifications for Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. The service bulletin, known as SB1079, outlines instructions for inspection of the aircraft's CFM-56-7 engine thrust reverser inner walls as well as insulation blankets; work will include checking for signs of heat damage and correcting potential heat-related issues.

According to Stuart Kay, general manager of the Alabama Service Center for Goodrich, "Our team was able to satisfy Boeing's stringent demand for a high level of technical expertise to perform SB1079 inspections and modifications with speed and ease. Our rotable pool of nacelle system components is available to operators who need to keep flying while service bulletin work is being performed. With a focus on our customers' needs and a goal of being a total service provider, Goodrich continues to work closely with Boeing in matters such as these to implement creative solutions in a challenging environment."

In 2007, the Alabama Service Center became the third facility in Goodrich's worldwide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network authorized to participate in Boeing's Network Service Center (NSC) program to repair and overhaul Next-Generation 737 and 777 thrust reversers. Goodrich MRO facilities in Prestwick, Scotland and Singapore, both authorized NSCs, are also performing SB1079 inspections and modifications for Boeing.

The Alabama Service Center, part of Goodrich's global MRO campus network is a recognized leader in nacelles system MRO services, providing world-class support to airline operators in North, South and Central America. Operators in the Americas fly more than 1,000 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, or roughly 42 percent of the aircraft model in service worldwide.
